Isn't it interesting that the wearing of masks has become equated with patriotism, infringement of individual freedoms or, conversely a communist insidious attack on our individual liberties. It therefore stands to reason in the minds of some that those of us who wear masks because we care about infecting our fiends, colleagues, neighbors or loved ones, must be unpatriotic at best or communist sympathizers at worst. A more reasonable viewpoint is that asking others to wear masks not only protects them but also protects ourselves because some of us have compromised immune systems. Problem is, there will be little consolation to those who become infected if we, by our action of not wearing a mask, infect someone we know or a for that matter infect a stranger. They will suffer the consequences, of ill health, long term side effects and possibly death. But I guess in those cases we can console ourselves by knowing that we were patriotic. Really?
